So basically, both of Ashtaroth's valid options came down to "escape the scourge of scorn". Or rather, escape the scourge of REMEMBERED scorn.

I can't say, then, that he's the most strong-willed demon out there. I stand by what Mikami said after escaping the galaxy egg: he's just a petulance elemental.

... I don't recall the last time I saw a main villain die as a villain. They all redeem or justify themselves before the end, somehow... Ashtaroth was no exception. But I suppose, in a way, Ashtaroth wasn't really a "villain", in the evil sense.

I didn't think we'd get to see them again.
